Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan.
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, eggs, milk, 1/4 cup ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Do not overmix.
Transfer the meat mixture to the prepared loaf pan and shape it evenly. Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top.
Bake for 60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
While the meatloaf is baking, prepare the green beans. Wash and trim the green beans.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add the green beans to the skillet and season with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 8-10 minutes, or until the green beans are tender-crisp.
Once the meatloaf is cooked, let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve slices of meatloaf with the sautéed green beans.
For a richer flavor, add a packet of dry onion soup mix to the meatloaf mixture.
To prevent the meatloaf from drying out, place a pan of water on the bottom rack of the oven during baking.
Green beans can be blanched before sauteing to shorten the cooking time in the skillet.
Add a dash of red pepper flakes to green beans for a spicy kick
