Prepare the pizza dough: In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm water and olive oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Prepare the pizza sauce: In a saucepan, combine crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). Punch down the risen dough and divide it in half (if making two pizzas) or keep it whole for one large pizza.
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness and shape. Transfer to a greased pizza pan or baking sheet.
Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, then arrange your desired vegetable toppings over the cheese.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Remove from oven and let cool slightly before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired. Serve immediately.
For a crispier crust, preheat your pizza pan in the oven before placing the dough on it.
You can use store-bought pizza dough and sauce to save time.
Feel free to add other vegetables, such as spinach, artichoke hearts, or sun-dried tomatoes.
