Description

Imagine biting into a warm, crispy pickle with a satisfying tang. These air-fried pickles offer just that – a delightful combination of textures and flavors that will tantalize your taste buds. Each pickle slice is transformed into a golden delight, boasting a crunchy exterior that gives way to a juicy, briny interior.

The secret lies in the carefully seasoned breading that clings to the pickles, creating a savory crust that's simply irresistible. The preparation begins with selecting the perfect pickles, sliced to just the right thickness. These slices are then dipped in a light egg wash, ensuring the seasoned breading adheres evenly.

The breading itself is a harmonious blend of ground almonds, Parmesan cheese, and fragrant spices like garlic powder, salt, and pepper. This mixture creates a coating that's both flavorful and texturally satisfying. For an extra-generous coating, the dipping and breading process is repeated, resulting in a thicker, crispier crust that beautifully complements the tangy pickle within.

The air fryer works its magic by circulating hot air around the breaded pickles, creating an even, golden-brown finish in a fraction of the time it would take to deep fry them. This method also ensures that the pickles retain their moisture, preventing them from becoming dry or rubbery. The result is a batch of crispy, flavorful pickles that are perfect for snacking, sharing, or enjoying as a side dish.

These air-fried pickles are incredibly versatile. Enjoy them on their own as a satisfying snack, or pair them with your favorite dipping sauce for an extra layer of flavor. A creamy, homemade lemon mayonnaise would be a particularly delicious accompaniment, complementing the tanginess of the pickles with its zesty richness.

Whether you're looking for a quick and easy appetizer or a tasty treat to enjoy any time of day, these air-fried pickles are sure to please. Their crispy texture, tangy flavor, and simple preparation make them a winner every time.

Instructions

    1.
Prepare a clean work surface and select 6 medium sized pickles of roughly the same size. This is important so that they cook evenly. Slice each pickle in half lengthwise.
    2.
Crack the egg into a small bowl and beat well. In a separate bowl, add the ground almonds, Parmesan, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Mix well together to combine.
    3.
Taking one pickle half at a time, dip in the beaten egg, until coated all over in the mixture. Next, roll the egg coated pickle in the breading mix. Repeat this process with the remaining pickles so they are all coated in one thin layer of egg and breading.
    4.
Dip each pickle again in the remaining egg, coating them in another layer. Roll them again in the remaining batter. Each pickle should now be thickly and generously coated in breading.
    5.
Transfer the pickles to the basket of the air fryer and set in the air fryer tray. Set the air fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and the timer for 10 minutes. After this time the breading should be crisp and golden all over. Fry a few minutes more if needed.
